Download APK
- Open the downloaded file. If Android asks, allow Install unknown apps for your browser, then tap Install.
- Open the app once on the phone and choose While using the app for Location. It's used to switch the car screen to audio-only while moving.
- Next updates arrive inside the app: tap Update now when asked.
Had an old test version (0.4 or earlier)?
Uninstall it first, then install this one. The old builds used a temporary key, so Android can't update them in place. You only need to do this once.
Show it in Android Auto
- On the phone open Settings → Android Auto (or the Android Auto app).
- Scroll down and tap Version 10 times, then OK.
- Tap ⋮ → Developer settings and tick Unknown sources.
- Connect to the car while parked. EV Insight Lab -Tube appears in the car's app list. Try USB first, then wireless.
Doesn't open? Start a navigation app like Waze first, then open it.

iPhone and CarPlay
This app is Android only. Apple doesn't allow outside apps to show video on CarPlay, and iPhones can't install apps from a link. Many cars can still show YouTube on CarPlay through Apple's own AirPlay feature, while parked.
- Update the iPhone to iOS 26.4 or newer (Settings → General → Software Update).
- Park the car and connect the iPhone to CarPlay (cable or wireless).
- Open the YouTube app on the iPhone and start a video.
- Tap the AirPlay / Cast icon on the video and choose your car.
- Video plays on the car screen while parked. When you drive off, it stops showing video.
Car not in the list? Your car maker hasn't added CarPlay video support yet. A car software update may add it later. Please avoid "CarPlay video" apps that need a jailbroken iPhone.

Safety
For passengers and parked use. The driver must never watch video while driving. The audio-only switch uses the phone's GPS. It helps, but it isn't a guarantee. Android Auto may also block the screen while the car is moving.
